Thanks to a really good friend I was able to secure tickets to the Masters Golf Tournament Wednesday Practice Round. This was important because you are permitted to take photos on a practice round, and even better Wednesday is the day the pro’s do a par 3 tournament where their family and friends tag along as caddies.
I was instructed to get there early, so I did, before the break of dawn.
The sand traps on the pitching range had one of the ubiquitous groundskeeper in the coveralls grooming them.
The cottages were beautiful with their shrubberies in full bloom.
The players were much more relaxed with the fans.
On one hole the players would try and skip their ball across a pond.
Early April in Georgia provides the perfect weather for the grounds to be immaculate.
For the par 3 tournament the families were out, complete with the coveralls.
The tees were up close, making for easy photography.
The par 3 course.
As the day was ending there was a sighting of ‘The King – Arnold Palmer’
In the end it was a great day at a very famous place, but for shooting photography of the greatest golfers in the world I had better luck at the World Golf Series events at Firestone Country Club in Akron.
