The Ohio Expo Center/State Fairgrounds is one of the largest in the country, with numerous buildings that host all sorts of events. We went today to go to an antique show/flea market for some treasure hunting.
With the Home and Garden Show taking up their normal buildings they were relegated to another on the south end of the grounds. As we finished and left to go back to the car with the treasures I heard a racket coming out of the building next door. It was then I remember – the Ohio Indoor Go Kart Racing!
With the weather back to the normal February cold the doors were all closed, and despite the best effort of the giant fans it was filled with exhaust smoke and a hell of a lot of noise.
Most of the competitors were kids or teens, with their parents as the pit crew.
They went amazingly fast around the tight oval course.
A couple of mishaps occurred, but nobody got hurt.
After about 30 minutes we left, ringing ears and clothes that smelled like we were jogging behind a city bus for a marathon.
