A Lap of America – Griffis Sculpture Park

Scattered across more than 400 acres of Cattaraugus County, New York is the Griffis Sculpture Park. Said to be the first sculpture park in the United States it was started by Larry Griffis in 1966. Today is is the largest sculpture park in the country.

It also serves as a nature preserve, with miles of trails through the wooded hillsides. We spent some time wandering these hills but with the afternoon thunderstorms eventually the mud and bugs became too much.

Regardless it was a unique experience, well worth the trip to the countryside of Western New York.
